Psalm 23 for a Post-Modern Generation

The Lord is my consultant,

He has my ear.

He advises me to lie down in green pastures;

He encourages me to walk beside the still waters;

And some times, I do.

He thinks he has so much to teach me about righteousness

But I know better.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

For I know what I'm doing.

And I'm sure the big guy will bail me out if I need it.

He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

He anoints my head with oil - take that, you jerks!

Surely the Lord won't hold it against me when I do my own thing,

And he will allow me to walk my own path - forever.
